Sunshine & Sweet Pea's: Our Story

Sunshine & Sweet Pea's: Our Story

Family owned and operated since 2018. My passion for local art and bright, cheerful colors has created a “Happy Place” for our community in Virginia Beach, my family of customers, and each new smiling face that comes through our doors. From starting in a 900 sqft space in October 2018 to moving to a 3700 sqft in June of 2019 with our Grand Re-Opening in August 2019 we are so thankful for our community.

My number one mission when opening Sunshine & Sweet Pea’s was to create a space that would make people feel happy, lift them up, and bring a smile to their face. Bringing light to the talented, local artists in our community is what has brought Sunshine & Sweet Pea’s to life and is what I believe encompasses the heart and soul of the shop. I am asked often “How did you come up with the name of your shop?” because the name doesn’t really describe the shop and what it has. “Sunshine” has always been a nickname of mine and I always sing you are my sunshine to my babies, and “Sweet Pea” is in honor of my best friend Carrie of over ten years. She passed in August 2016 due to an amniotic fluid embolism during child birth. Her kindness, passion for helping others, and love for sea turtles is something I wanted to truly honor in the shop for her. She was one of those people who would do anything to make your day better and had the most gorgeous ocean blue eyes.

At Sunshine & Sweetpea’s you will find original, one of kind, custom art, unique, refinished furniture, beautiful saline inspired and designer Alamea Jewelry, outdoor Polywood furniture made in the USA from 98% recycled milk jugs, and so much more. I strive to fill my shop with products that reflect the heart of the coastal community and the reasons we all love it so much.

We have products that give back to the coastal community which include 4Ocean Bracelets, Bold B Jewelry, Florida Sea Turtle Bracelets and our OnieTonie Collaboration giving back to N.E.S.T. (Network for Endangered Sea Turtles) located in the Outer Banks, NC. Supporting the coastal community is something I have always been incredibly passionate about and grateful to be apart of.

We hope you have the opportunity visit our shop here in Virginia Beach and we thank you for your love and support!

Hi! I sent Deb a message to change my magnets to sea life on my custom state sign. She said she would but to notify you of the change to my order.

    Thanks!
